Initiative to support Mathru(Blind Organisation)

We are supporting the ‘Newspaper Drive’ to support Mathru (Blind Organization). They will be coming to the Lakeview Clubhouse on Feb 14th-15th to collect old newspapers.

Balaji has agreed to coordinate this activity from Dahlia. You can donate your old newspaper to the person who comes at your door every Sunday asking for old newspaper & the same will be passed on to Mathru.

Here are more details on this -
================================
Mathru is a non-profitable, voluntary organization set up to provide fundamental confidence and economic stability to the people living in darkness. This is a free residential school for the blind at Yelahanka and giving quality based education to 73 children who are studying from grade one to grade 10th grade. They also provide mobility orientation, daily living skills, computer learning, music, dance, craft, weaving, knitting etc.,they have their own braille printing press and recording room. a good library, training center etc.,
thus Mathru aims at overall development of the blind.

Regarding usage of news paper -
================================
BRAILLE is an embossing dots which they get the impression on thick paper. There is no special paper as such to write braille. but usually they use the paper which normal children use for painting. (Thick paper called kg board). Since this paper is costly and their regular usage of paper is around 6-7 kg per day, they cannot afford to spend on the paper. Thus for regular use like learning purpose, notes, dictation, practicing of braille , home work doing etc they use new paper. It is like recycling the paper in a better way. Thus they try to collect news paper from the public.
